Planet 51 is set to premiere on November 20th…and already has lots of buzz.
The film is a recreation of 1950s science fiction films where our beloved planet Earth faced constant extinction by alien space invaders. The irony of this flick is that it features an alien planet terrified of — a human astronaut.
The film is witty in its contemporary references and is sure to be a hit with the kids…
The Twilight Saga: New Moon had its boisterous premiere in Westwood yesterday and is set to take over theaters nationwide on Friday, November 20th, giving the frenzied fans of this film/novel series something juicy to sink their starved teeth into. The fresh installment features a quartet of werewolves in addition to the familiar vampires who live in the town of Forks, so the options for costumes has doubled thanks to this follow-up. And while its been months since MJ’s untimely passing, it seems as though he is more popular than ever.
The film grossed 20.7 million over Halloween weekend, but numbers were lower than what Sony anticipated. However, the film still took the number one spot.
In addition, the two week screening of the movie has been extended to Thanksgiving weekend.

The longest-running children’s program on US television, Sesame Street, celebrates its 40th anniversary next week and the tributes to this influential kids’ show have begun to spring up. Just today, Google.com altered its logo to include a pair of orange legs with yellow feathers where the “L” usually is. Yep, it’s Big Bird’s bottom half on the search engine’s homepage and we can’t wait to see what other websites and Sesame Street fans have in store to celebrate the benchmark. The actual anniversary will be on November 10th, so there’s still enough time to pick up a costume of Ernie, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, or Kermit the Frog and relive four decades of fun, eductional lessons from public television. Dressing as your favorite Sesame Street character is a great way to honor a show that has helped shape many of us through childhood. Here’s to another 40 years from Big Bird and co.!
We are mere days away from the most colorful, creative and frightfully fun time of the year: Halloween! But before you send your costumed candy-collectors out into the neighborhood on their annual harvest of sweets, study up on safety and consider the following advice. Always assemble Halloween costumes with care, using only non-flammable materials, and examine the outfit’s length to make certain no fabric or Accessories are dangling or can get tangled up while traveling from door-to-door. If a Mask is part of the Halloween disguise, be sure to have adequate visibility through the eye holes and that all noises from nearby cars or people can be clearly heard through ear holes. When approaching an unfamiliar home on the haunted holiday, only knock or ring the doorbell if a porch light is on and the house appears inviting to dressed-up guests. Avoid barking dogs and dark yards as you make the rounds, adhere to all traffic rules and stop lights when crossing streets and try to travel in groups of 2 or more, keeping a close eye on each other using the buddy system. Before sampling the treats that kids have been given, parents should inspect the snacks, making sure all the packages are still factory sealed before the long-awaited ripping, tearing and devouring begins. A little preparedness and planning is all that’s needed for Halloween to go off without a hitch. Have a blast, scare yourself (and others) silly, but keep your wits about you because while October 31st may only come once a year, like a zombie hungry for brains, it will return before you know it!
