We know it’s been a rough winter for most of the country and Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of cold and snow but Spring will be here soon, bringing with it warmth and new life. Along with a much needed thaw, this change of season will also usher in a whole host of fun holidays and events that call out for costumes, masks, wigs, hats, props and decorations. First up: Mardi Gras and the disguise options may start simply with colored beads but quickly extend to lavish masquerade masks, jester suits, krewe king and queen outfits and lots more. St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of all things Irish and traditional looks including leprechauns, lads, lasses and shamrock-adorned decorations will spread cheer all around – Slainte! Easter hops into focus in April and everything egg, bunny and pastel will prove popular with kids and adults alike on that reverent Sunday. Combine these holidays with sports events like the start of Major League Baseball season and the NBA/NHL playoffs and there’s a ton of party possibilities for all the big games. If those aren’t enough reasons to dress up and accessorize, the movies opening in theaters in the coming weeks put this time of year over the top as Mr. Peabody & Sherman, 300: Rise of an Empire, Muppets Most Wanted and Captain America: The Winter Soldier all have their related characters to choose from. Spring can’t arrive quickly enough and once it gets here, there are plenty of opportunities to disguise and decorate. Be sure to take advantage of the warmer temperatures and take pictures of your creative outfits and surroundings to share with friends and family!
