Hollywood Loves Matt Groening…With a Walk of Fame Star on Valentine’s Day!

The fanfare for The Simpsons‘ 500th episode, airing February 19th on FOX, continues! One day before his 58th birthday, the show’s creator Matt Groening has been bestowed the honor of a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame nearby fellow animators Walt Disney and “Peanuts” inventor Charles M. Schultz.

The Simpsons voice actors Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright and Yeardley Smith were present to speak on behalf of Mr. Groening, who has seen his comedic juggernaut starring the iconic family from Springfield become the longest-running scripted show in television history since beginning as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show and premiering as a half-hour series in 1989.  The Simpsons received a Walk of Fame Star of its own in 2000.

Also known for Futurama and the “Life in Hell” comics, Matt’s speech was simultaneously humble and amusing.  We took a stroll down Hollywood Blvd. to capture the moment on video and share it with you.
