Now that the 2012 Oscar Nominations are out, conversations have begun about which movies received the correct amount of recognition, the ones that may have gotten a little too much praise and those films that were left out altogether.
Leonardo DiCaprio was included as a “Best Actor” candidate for the Golden Globes and SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards for his role in J. Edgar but was unceremoniously left out of the running by the Academy.
Same goes for Tilda Swinton in We Need to Talk About Kevin…omitted from Oscar contention even though she’d been recognized by the other voting bodies.
We could go on for quite a while with more questionable picks from the Academy but one last one we’d like to mention is The Adventures of Tintin not being included in the Animated Feature Film category. This snub really makes us scratch our heads. Is it because the movie was made using motion-capture technology that is doesn’t qualify as an “Animated” film? Whatever the real reason is, we’re baffled how a movie of this caliber could be bypassed!
Check out all the Nominees here and ramp up your excitement for the winners to be announced on February 26th live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood (televised on ABC) by hosting an Oscar-Watching Party and wearing your favorite costume from some of the nominated films!
Get ready to see the Star Wars movies in an all-new way – on the big screen and in 3D!
Given the recent advances in 3D movie technology, writer/director George Lucas decided the time was right to revamp and re-release this first installment of the saga for audiences to get an even more immersive theatrical experience.
For those who haven’t seen this blockbuster tale of Jedi Knights, the Sith and Anakin Skywalker – before he became Darth Vader – the film stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman among other actors and features intergalactic characters including R2-D2, C-3PO and Jar Jar Binks.

It was a very special day on Hollywood Blvd. for family, friends and the fans worldwide of late superstar Michael Jackson as a ceremony “Immortalized” this unforgettable performer into the cement in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
Billy Bush hosted the event which included heartfelt speeches from Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones, Chris Tucker, Justin Bieber, Debbie Allen, Harry Shum, Jr. of Glee, Michael’s mother Katherine, his brother Tito and children Prince and Paris.
Songs such as “I’ll Be There” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” “Earth Song,” “Jam” and “They Don’t Care About Us” were performed as a multitude of dancers entertained both the crowd who attended and those watching the simulcast live.
Michael’s daughter Paris wrote his name in the fresh cement and left an impression of his iconic sequin glove while Blanket imprinted his shoes. Tourists who visit Hollywood in the future will be able to see this on display next to other famous actors, directors and musicians.
A special episode of Glee airs on January 31st in celebration of the music of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson!
The rivalry between New Directions, the Glee Club of Lima, Ohio’s William McKinley High School and The Warblers of Dalton Academy will likely factor into the show’s storyline as the rumored song list includes such smash hits as “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” “Bad,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Black or White” and more.
Coincidentally (or not), the episode will air as a new Cirque du Soleil show “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour” treks across the country, stopping at arenas nationwide. Watch the YouTube preview below to get an idea of what to expect if you catch this spectacular theatrical production live.

The ad stars 12 dogs dressed in disguises and wearing accessories from SW characters such as Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, an Ewok and even the AT-AT Walker from The Empire Strikes Back.
These costumed canines are barking Darth Vader’s theme: “The Imperial March” and sound pretty good in doing so while remaining well-behaved for the camera.
