Apple’s iPad Unveiled

Today in San Francisco, Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the technology behemoth’s newest addition to their arsenal of popular gizmos.  Named iPad, this tablet-shaped personal computer device looks like an over-sized iPhone but functions like a MacBook with a touch-screen.  Our hastily-drafted description doesn’t do the gadget justice, visit the official Apple site to see and read more about the iPad by clicking here or on the photo above.

Only a ½” thick and weighing 1.5 pounds, iPad has a 10” screen and will be available in late March at a starting price of $499.  We couldn’t be more excited to share the news because this hybrid mobile/desktop product is truly revolutionary compared to most everything else on the market.  In fact, we’re so giddy about this release that all day we’ve been finding apple-related costumes and extras to share with our readers.

As you can see, we’ve got a round and ripe Apple Costume, a Apple Dumpling Outfit for teens, the groovy 1960s Appletini Costume, and a sweet accessory in the Red Apple PurseSnow White might prefer to avoid taking a bite of that poisoned apple, but the fruit decorates her dress and our Tina the Target disguise shows what happens when a knife-thrower misses the apple on her head with a trio of blades.  Even the famously apple-tempted couple Adam and Eve get in on the excitement.  Host an announcement party of your own with our Red and Green Apple-Colored Party Supplies as you patiently await using the amazing iPad – March can’t come soon enough for this hand-held wonder!

Pixar Tells Another Toy Story

Over 10 years have passed since Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 2 was in theatres and fans of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Rex and the Potato Heads will be thrilled to find out that another sequel is set for release in mid-2010. That’s right, Toy Story 3 is due on the big screen June 18th and a trailer has made its way online, click here or on the poster above to see this new preview.

With a decade having elapsed between Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3, the writers decided to incorporate this time off into the movie’s plot as the once-adolescent Andy is now on the way to college, forced to give up a chest full of plastic and fabric playthings from his childhood. The popular voice actors behind these colorful characters haven’t moved on, however, as Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and John Ratzenberger, among others, all reprise their speaking roles for this next installment.

5 months may seem like quite a long wait for this eagerly awaited follow-up, so we recommend using this down time to pick out a creative disguise for children or adults of a favorite Toy Story character like the ones seen below. We’ve also got enough Toy Story Party Supplies to make your next celebration blast off “to infinity and beyond!” Oh, did we mention Toy Story 3 will make its way to an IMAX theater near you in eye-popping 3D? After seeing what Avatar looked like in IMAX 3D (completely AMAZING), that extra little bit of info should make the kid in all of us especially happy come summertime!

Be My Valentine in Costume

As we previously mentioned, February may be the shortest month but it’s chock-full of costume-worthy happenings with the biggest occurring smack in the middle.  Valentine’s Day on the 14th starts a trio of disguise days that also includes Presidents Day, a tribute to historical commanders-in-chief George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, on February 15th and the mischievous worldwide carnival celebration Mardi Gras on “Fat Tuesday” the 16th.  Events like these are all in due time, so let’s first focus on the romantic holiday of love, Valentine’s Day.  Sure, you could take the traditional route of flowers, chocolate and a candlelight dinner to mark the occassion but what we’re thinking will stand out even more is a classic, colorful, maybe even sexy costume to wear or give as a gift to a loved one.  So start thinking Cupid, Angel, Venus and alluring looks for couples in plain sight or behind closed doors and you’ll be well on your way to a memorable Valentine’s Day 2010.  Check out our full selection here and feel the love in the air as the calendar inches closer to February 14th!

Spider-Man 4 = New Director and Web-Slinger!

Spider-Man Web

It’s official, after three incredibly successful films and a US box office gross of over $1 Billion, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment are parting ways with the actor and director team that made the Spider-Man movie franchise the mega-hit it is. When Spider-Man 4 reaches theaters in 2012, Tobey Maguire won’t be underneath the iconic red and blue suit and Sam Raimi won’t be behind the camera lens; instead the film is going to try a “new direction” and a “fresh start” for this next chapter. The entire press release from Sony can be seen here.

It was less than a week ago that word leaked out John Malkovich would portray super-villain Vulture for this fourth installment, but the bombshell that Tobey and Sam are now out throws quite a sizeable wrench in those plans. In fact, question marks follow almost everyone in the proposed cast as this sequel is intended as a “reboot” with Peter Parker once again an unsuspecting high school student bitten by a genetically altered spider.

While fans of the web-head await confirmation on who will be starring in and directing this highly anticipated follow-up, our suggestion for Spidey supporters is to check out our wide array of Marvel and Comic Book Costumes. With choices for adults, kids, men or women, find your perfect alter-ego for a disguise party or to save the world from nefarious scientists. Spider-Man may have been knocked down a peg by the departures of Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi, but he’ll be back to full strength soon enough!

Conan and Leno in Late Night Limbo?

Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno

The beginning of 2010 has been a tumultuous time at NBC. Come February 12th, The Jay Leno Show will be axed from its daily 10 pm slot and word is that the veteran entertainer will return to a place in the network’s late night lineup. Of course, this news doesn’t thrill his Tonight Show successor Conan O’Brien, who is seemingly left with a less-than-desirable choice: push back his program to a midnight start, or leave NBC altogether!

These kinds of ratings-based rearrangements really aren’t anything out of the ordinary in the realm of TV, but it’s the fans and friends of each host that are making negotiations all the more interesting. Sides are being taken, lines drawn and even legendary funnyman Jerry Seinfeld has spoken up, offering a few comments on the (laughing) matter. Seeing as how his new show The Marriage Ref premieres next month on NBC, it’s no surprise he’d like to get in the middle of this potentially monumental rift.

So what can faithful viewers do as we await word of who’s staying, who’s going and why? Our suggestion is to dress up in any of these classic costumes including an NBC-inspired Peacock, Jay’s many Motorcycle Looks and a Simpsons Outfit or two in support of Conan, a former writer for the animated series.  One of Conan’s favorite segments from his time on Late Night was when he portrayed a turn-of-the-century Baseball Player, so we’ve included that one too.  We’ll keep a close eye on the trades in the next few days to see who ends up on top of this high-profile shake-up!

Taking It to the Streets

Super Street Fighter 4 Logo

Attention PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, Capcom’s classic martial arts series Street Fighter has a new installment on the way, the eye-popping and hyperkinetic Super Street Fighter IV. To get gamers salivating on their controllers, a new trailer for this frenetic fighting tournament can be seen by clicking here or on the logo above.

Many of the iconic brawlers from this 20+ year old franchise are back, including Ryu, Ken Masters, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Zangief and M. Bison, but they’re also joined by up to 10 new characters along with countless combos, special moves and colorful costumes for players to practice, pull off and put on, respectively. Most of all, we’re excited to see the incredible angles and views during gameplay and feel the bone-crunching action from up close while on the couch.

Since we’re talking about the unique looks of these bruisers, why not enter the competition dressed and ready for hand-to-hand combat? We’ve got official Street Fighter outfits as well as dozens of karate, ninja, and martial artist disguises and accessories to choose from.
